He remains an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Stanford University. Dr. Newmark is the former Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology of Alameda Health System, as well as the former Medical Director for Pain Management and Functional Restoration at Highland Hospital in Oakland, California.

Dr. Ciammaichella is triple board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury medicine, and brain injury medicine. Her combination of legal and medical expertise provides a unique and pointed perspective in the common complications of injuries and anticipated quality of life to create a framework for understanding extent of damages after SCI, brain injury, and stroke. She is also an expert in downstream complications of SCI, brain injury, and stroke.
She completed her PM&R residency at the University of Texas at Houston and spent a significant amount of time at TIRR, a nationally renowned center for spinal cord injury and brain injury rehabilitation. She also obtained specialized training by completing a spinal cord injury fellowship at the University of Utah Craig H. Neilsen Rehabilitation Hospital.
